When in junior high I had a crush on Della Street, or Barbara Hale. In June 1971 I returned from a tour in Vietnam and went with my wife and another couple in July,'71 to the beach in Destin, Florida. One night we had a late supper in a modest restaurant. I was sitting and heard that distinctive voice of Ms. Hale's. I knew who it was without even looking. When I got a chance I looked and it was indeed Barbara Hale and her husband. We were the only ones in the restuarant. I respected her privacy and did not say anything to her or stare. But I was thrilled to have seen her in such an out of the way place.

Another word about Barbara, she did commercials in the 70's for Amanna Refrigerators. I was impressed by them and her. Here's to you, Barb.

Did they ever make them as smart, humble, strong, and beautiful as Barbara Hale? Della Street is revered, probably, more today than when Barbara played the role on TV for nine years and in some TV movies afterwards. So represents what was good with Hollywood.

In 1970, I met Actress Barbara Hale while working at Leeds Shoes at the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square. I sold her shoes and she handed me a check and I noticed her name Barbara Hale
