Vera Ellen was one of the best dancers of the 40s & 50s, and was a very good person. Watch her in Richard Rodgers "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue when she was in her twenties, she had the original moves Marilyn Monroe later used in "Tropical Heat Wave." Vera Ellen is missed. Sandra Akridge Dallas, Tx.

Vera was one of our favorite actresses until she disappeared in the 1960's - what talent she had!

In or around 1950/51 I was dancing and one day went to Frederick Freed the ballet shoe company in London. Vera Ellen had been in just before me and left a pair of soft ballet shoes, previously ordered by her, beacause the colour of her costume had been changed. Her instruction was to give them to the next person who came in that they fitted. I was that lucky person. I still have them to this day - now a faded emerald green satin.
