I was only 18, in the Navy and on leave in L.A. I happened to visit the Hollywood Canteen where Joan was working behind the counter. I chatted with her and she gave me one of her pictures - a black and white that I still have. She was a true beauty and one of my favorite actresses! It would be great to see her again - of course she wouldn't remember me but would remember when she worked in the Canteen so long ago - by the way I am 84 now so the year was 1944. dis is not da boy i am lookin 4 so put da pictures dat i want on here now You can have all the pin up girls from the 1940's and I'll take Joan Leslie. Good Lord, was she ever good looking! I've been in love with her since I was a little boy, and she's old enough to be my Grandmother - weird, I know, but if I could travel back through time to meet anybody it would be to meet a young Joan Leslie - so beautiful, so poised, and such* a good actress - she was fantastic. I still love you. You made my day when I was a teenager back in the steel town of Johnstown, Pa. I am 78, and nobody touched me like you. Be proud and live forever. Ms. Leslie was a favorite of mine. I loved her in Yankee Doodle Dandy and watch it over and over. Actually I liked all her movies.
