I watch the Waltons everyday and love the show. I remember my grandparents always talk about the Great Depression back in the 1930's and I realize life had to be hard for some who had nothing but the farm in the country to raise livestock and grow their own vegetables to store in Mason jars they put in the root cellar like my grandparents did in the 1960's. By then the Great Depression was over but they taught me how to survive in case hard times struck again.
